Historic London Photographic Archive
Explore more than 180 genuine vintage colour photographs of London, capturing the capital’s streets, landmarks, shops, transport and everyday life from the 1950s to the 1980s.
Every photograph originates from an original vintage colour slide or negative in the Places Remembered archive. Each image has been carefully restored to improve its clarity and appearance while preserving its historical character. These are genuine photographs of real places, not artificially colourised pictures or AI-generated historical recreations.
Each photograph is also accompanied by an informative historical description, exploring the buildings, businesses, landmarks and everyday scenes depicted. Where relevant, we explain how the location has changed and what happened to the places shown.
Our photographs are also available as premium matte posters, ready-to-hang framed prints and canvas prints.
