This beautiful 1967 view looks west along the north shore of Loch Leven, Scotland, where a classic British car and caravan are parked beside the water beneath the magnificent slopes of Sgorr Dhearg, rising to 3,361 feet (1,025 m). At the time this photograph was taken, the road was the A82, the principal route through the West Highlands before the opening of the Ballachulish Bridge in 1975. Today it forms part of the quieter B863, allowing visitors to pause and admire one of Scotland’s finest mountain landscapes much as they could in the 1960s. Remarkably, this very parking place still exists around three miles east of North Ballachulish, offering virtually the same breathtaking view across the loch.
